My Sister’s DIY Fashion Ideas for Her Marriage

My Sister’s DIY Fashion Ideas for Her Marriage

Many of us would scream in anxiety if we are asked to do our fashion on our own during our wedding. I mean even the thought is pretty scary. But my sister is so confident and carefree that she doesn’t mind doing it in a DIY way, even on the day when she is to tie the knot.

So, it so happened that she did her own hair on her wedding, and to give credit to her, she did a job as fabulous as could have been done by any hair expert! It seems easier said than done! She did a few days of research and introspection on the kind of look she wants and the exact hairstyle she would like to sport on her D-day. But as she later told me, that once your mind is made up, then you should go ahead with the plan instead of backing out for fear of failure.

She quipped that the first thing is to cleanse your hair properly so that all dust and dirt are washed off, the messes are arranged and the hair looks soft and lustrous. Then you need to decide on the kind of style you want to give it. Plaits are still her favorite and so she went ahead with that. It is also more reliable and less risky.

Some of My Grand Ideas for 2013 Fashion DIY

Some of My Grand Ideas for 2013 Fashion DIY

The year 2013 is the year when I think I will try some of my crazy and untested ideas on fashion. I have always been the so-called thinking girl and have come up with some bizarre but innovative ideas on attires, hairs and shoes. Instead of banking on the commercial products which are shoved on you in swanky malls, I like to go with DIY way. That gives my creative instincts some sort of satisfaction.

One idea I have is to make a mix-match of things. If I can shun the clichéd path of conventional dressing-up and can invent my own way of fashion, then I can really make an impressionable case for myself in my college. Though there are some risks involved since an experiment can always boomerang on you, but the results can be very appealing as well.

Another trick I have is to fuse the contemporary with the classic. So, I plan to wear a very vintage-looking outfit and team it up with some 21st century accessories. That would really help me stand out of the crowd. And yes, I also plan to recycle some of my old clothes and may be trying stitching out something new and cool out of them.

Fashion Design Books: My Latest Obsession

Fashion Design Books: My Latest Obsession

I have already made it clear that I am one of those women who will blog a lot about fashion and style. I do not want to brag but the fact is that fashion flows in my blood. So, when I came across a website which sold fashion books, I was really tempted to buy all of them. Since, I am a poor woman, I couldn’t fulfill that desire but still went ahead and splurged on 3 expensive books.

After I finished them off in less than a week, my hands ran over the mouse again and I ordered 3 more books. In this manner, I have finished as many as 15 books in the last 2 months. And my greed refuses to die, since there is so much to learn from these books. Fashion design has a lot more to it than I previously thought. And these books do give a deeper view into this bizarrely unknown world. You get to read about the struggles of some famous designers and about how things can go horribly wrong on the ramp, or about how you can yourself enroll in a fashion school and become a designer. With more books on their way to my shelf, I would keep posting about my latest obsession. Till then, ciao!

The Perks of Being a Fashion Designer: Bella’s Tales

My friend Bella is a fashion designer and even though she has just started her career, she is already feeling good about her career choice. These days, being a fashion designer comes with a lot of perks. You do not just get to make good money but you can make a great name for yourself. With internet and social media sites going big, every kind of talent are now being given its due recognition. So, gone are the days when a fashion designer would be shunned away into obscurity and her clothes would be flaunted by actresses without her getting any credit for it.

Bella has, for instance, already got huge number of followers on her blogger profile and on her Facebook page. This means that people (friends, foes and even strangers) know her and support her in her field. So, if she comes out with some innovative design, she would get the credit for it and not some lame actress.

I feel that Bella has got some talent inside her, and it won’t be long before she would be rubbing shoulders with some big names in the industry. And since she is a designer, she can also make a lot of friends. Great social life is another rewarding perk which comes with this career.

Diana Vreeland: Why I look up to her?

Diana Vreeland: Why I look up to her?

I really look up to Diana Vreeland who has made a name for herself in recent years. I admit that I hadn’t heard much of her until recently when I saw that she has come out triumphant in a fashion contest. Her documentary titled as The Eye Has To Travel has been receiving bouquets and plaudits all over the world. It has won, and deservingly so, the Fashion Design of the Year award.

I stumbled onto this news on Google News where I have got myself subscribed to receive any notification on Fashion world. The documentary is indeed a wonderful and mesmeric tribute to the world of fashion. Vreeland has been awarded for her contributions in all these years of her life. And this documentary vouches for the brilliant work that she has done.

Hence, this gesture from the organizers to give a trophy to her work is indeed commendable. There are two things that strike about her. One is the fact that she blurred the line between fashion and museum. Her unique presentation has been a great inspiration for amateurs like me. And secondly, her great trait is her longevity. To survive in this industry for so many years is a feat in itself, and she has done it with aplomb.
